Dragon Ball Z Kakarot gameplay

Dragon Ball Z Kakarot gameplay

DBZ: Kakarot was plotted in an area in the form of a semi-open world in which RPG elements were spiked. The game, which is still in the adventure genre, follows the plot of the Dragon Ball Z anime series with the main protagonist Son Goku . Other characters that can be played in this game are Gohan (young, teenager, adult), Vegeta , Piccolo, future Trunks, Gotenks, and Vegito.

The Dragon Ball Z Kakarot game is divided into individual hubs that will be locked until the player reaches a certain point in the story, which finally leaves new territory open to explore. In this game, flying becomes a big aspect in gameplay because it becomes the main way of traveling to explore the world. However, running at very high speeds, and driving a vehicle and Kinton clouds can be an option too.

Fighting in this Steam game is a combination of several punches, kicks, dodging, and explosions of ki energy released with special movements and combos. Outside the battle, players are free to roam to various different locations, collecting minerals, and also a number of fish. At the beginning of the game, Goku as the character played does not include the strongest movements. This movement must be opened through the skill tree and progress in the game’s story.

To improve character, there are four ways, namely by fighting, finding ki-orbs, eating, and creating a community. Connecting characters with community leaders of different types can maximize the experience gained. Orbs can be found through exploration, and is useful as a currency to increase skill trees. Food is useful in permanently increasing character status. By fighting in battles, experience points will be earned.

In this game there are side missions besides the main one. Side missions do not have to be completed, but the story in them connects with the main mission story. Completing side missions will get experience points and additional booty. In addition to side missions, there are also fishing activities.

This fishing activity is a mini game provided by the CyberConnect2 game developer that can only be played by pressing the button needed at the right moment. Fishing with the character Goku, not using a fishing pole, but the tail.

The total hours to complete the game are calculated based on the completion of all the main mission stories and some side missions are estimated to take up to 30 hours. However, if you want to complete all the missions in this Dragon Ball Z Kakarot game without exception, it will take more than 100 hours.

Review of Dragon Ball Z Kakarot

Dragon Ball Z Kakarot review

The tutorial was made interesting through Goku’s fight against Piccolo. From these battles, players get a lot of information about battles in games that tend not to be complex. The players are introduced with melee attacks, ki blasts, and super attacks to inflict damage to the enemy.

The defense option was introduced in the tutorial, which is to hold, attack to disappear, and a series of area attacks capable of repelling opponents. Ki can be stacked which functions as energy from special attacks.

The cell-shading visual approach is embedded in the game to capture the Dragon Ball anime appearance as expected by the players. The concept of open-world world offered in this game is indeed not satisfying, although there are still many places that can be explored.

The cause of the open world concept is not satisfactory because there are so many annoying loading screens, and places that should be explored don’t entice players. Iconic sound effects are included in this game to give Dragon Ball fans a familiar experience.

This game has a motion animation that is not as good and smooth as Dragon Ball FighterZ. In addition, there are other problems, namely the UI that appears when the player will carry out side missions.

DBZ iconic scene: Kakarot is boring because it offers what has been offered in other Dragon Ball series. The battle system is quite exciting to enjoy because it is packed super fast, and contains fast and intense ki blast attacks.

The RPG system in it is unique with the system of categorization based on the level of closeness with the NPCs that have been successfully recruited. There is no need to grinding though RPG, because experience can be obtained through battles, main missions, and side missions.
