After a long wait for news of the launch of the horror adventure game The Last of Us Part II, fans seem to have to bear the disappointment again. Through his Twitter account, Sony as the game’s publisher confirmed that he will delay the launch of The Last of Us Part II until an unspecified time.
This delay was motivated by logistical constraints being experienced by Naughty Dog as the developer. However, it is not explained in detail what kind of logistics problems are meant.
“Even though this game has been completed, we found a number of logistical obstacles and we cannot release The Last of Us Part II to fans. This means the launch will be postponed until we can resolve this logistical problem,” Naughty Dog wrote.
However Naughty Dog confirmed the news that the process of working on The Last of Us Part II was completely finished. They claimed to have patched the last bug and the game was ready to be released.
Naughty Dog also said that the delay in launching had to be done so that the players could get this game in the same time. “We want all players to be able to enjoy The Last of Us Part II at the same time,” Naughty Dog. This is the second time Naughty Dog has delayed the launch of the game The Last of Us Part II .
Previously Naughty Dog also had to postpone the launch which was originally planned for February 21, 2020 to May 29, 2020.
Summarized from The Verge, Saturday (4/4/2020), in addition to Naughty Dog, logistical problems were also experienced by Square Enix. Square Enix said it would speed up the delivery schedule for Final Fantasy VII Remake games to Australia and Europe.
It said this step was deliberately done so that players can get this game on time on 10 April. It cannot be ascertained the cause of the logistical problems experienced by these two big game developers.
However, it is probable that these obstacles are caused by the expanding Covid-19 pandemic. The launch delay was also previously experienced by the game Cyberpunk 2077. This game is planned to be released in September.
